Another perspective

Yes, the book is offensive and the words may not be considered political correct but they are the facts. The problems exist and well documented by the author. It seems to me that she wrote this book for Chinese readers more than others. As a Chinese, she is very frustrated. What we are seeing now is a large group of people who were living in a "close society" for many years. Many are uneducated and probably illiterates suddenly have a chance to travel outside of their remote village to see the world.
You do not know until you happen to to travel in the same trains, plane and bus with these groups. You do not know how people think when witness these behaviors in airports, bus station, amusement parks and theaters. If you come from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Japan than you may understand why the author wrote this book. Interesting book to read.

Domesticated hogs sent abroad

Interesting account from a Chinese person on their culture. Unfortunately it read like a high school essay and whilst there was some discussion on the culture differences, there was no background or research into their behaviours. I liked the anecdotes and westerners perspectives having experienced this in my travels internationally and witnessing such behaviours at home. If this has any impact on the behaviours of Chinese abroad, I hope it is for the positive.

Well written.This book give me a head up if travelling and seeing a group of Chinese tourist, I would know how to react and would not get too upset about them.
