A wonderful read for anyone into spanking!

What can I say.

I have just finished reading Governess Forbes' excellent book, and can not stop glowing about it!

Every chapter, every page gives a wonderful, humorous, well thought out insight into all things spanking. From beginners to the experienced, this covers so many areas (no pun) of spanking and the joys (or mis-joys) it can bring. She has a gift of making it seem that She is speaking to you directly, that the words in the book are just subtitles for the hearing impaired. She covers so many topics, from how to get a loved one into spanking, information about local spanking groups and online sites to check out, to even a great chapter for the Professional Disciplinarian!

The chapters that went into detail about implements were fun to read, with great notes about proper care and some of the best online stores to visit. I think what truly steals this book is the example of spanking scenes. Not only are they fun, cheeky, and gets the juices flowing, but they also hon in on the special words, items, looks, etc that would enhance that scene and teaches the proper lingo, stance, atmosphere in helping create the best spanking scenes for those that can not get spanking out of the head!

Even with someone like Me, a Professional and lifelong spanko, I found the book to be insightful for anyone of all levels. It is inviting to the beginners and curious sort to get the ball rolling on spanking and wonderful tips on how to obtain it and yet is not off putting for those with more experience in life with spanking to be invited to learn new things, new tricks, new ways of enhancing time across the knees. I did fully enjoy that this was the first "BDSM/kink/fetish" book I have read that actually devoted an entire chapter to the Professional and in a light that did not make it seem the usual conception of Professional Discipline. It gave tips on how to contact and find real Professionals to how to start up if you are thinking of becoming a Pro. The stories provided in there are all ones Us "Pros" have experienced, and it's great to read someone else take on the matter in a fun way.

I take this book as a MUST for all spankos to read, enjoy, share, and learn from. Please, include this in your arsenal, you will not regret it and will always come back to it for something new every time.

Excellent and Informative

This book is informative, well written and full of information. While it is a handbook of Adult Spanking, it is also an exploration of adult spanking desires. If you are intrigued by spanking fetishism and eroticism, you will find this book invaluable. The author presents the motivations of this desire clearly, articulately and respectfully.

If you struggle with telling your partner about your spanking interest, this book will aid in the explanation. Likewise, if you have recently discovered you partner's interest in spanking, this book provides a fun, healthy context in which to begin exploration. Highly recommended to anyone who is intrigued by adult spanking play.

Fascinating & Thorough

This is a wonderfully informative book for anyone with any interest at all re this topic. The author obviously has a great deal of experience in this field and is not shy about sharing it! The language is tastefully teasing and easy to read without insulting the reader's intelligence. There is a well placed emphasis on the phenomenological psychology of the Top/Bottom relationship though the nitty gritty details of technique are certainly not neglected. People who are already into this scene will still be able to learn a lot from this book which covers all bases.

Successor to Secrets of Opening Surprises Series

Lowinger's "Opening Originals" fills a gap left since the "Secrets of Opening Surprises" series has not seen a new entry since 2012. Fifteen opening sidelines, ranging from somewhat to extremely offbeat, are presented with an average of 7 annotated games each. Furthermore those games range from historical, such as very first game of the very first chapter, which features the inventor of a variation playing against one of the greatest past chess theoreticians, to games played within the last decade or less.

If you google for "lowinger opening originals excerpt pdf" the first result will contain the table of contents. You will find it heavily slanted toward 1.e4, which is the first move of ten of the fifteen opening variations. If this does not work for you, you might be further put off by more typos than should have made it to print, for instance in introductory remarks to the chapter on "1.e4 d5 2.ed Qxd5 3.Nf3!?", not once, but twice, 2.Nf3 is referred to. So the book could have used better editing, but unlike the Secrets of Opening Surprises series, it's entirely the work of one author, rather than one author per chapter -- that had to have made it harder to assemble.

As a 1.e4 player I definitely foresee using 3 or 4 of these lines in the near future, and am quite pleased with this book.

To see how a good opening book should be done

I found this book every bit as disappointing as his earlier one on the Center Counter. To see how a good opening book should be done, compare it to the marvelous one by GM Smerdon on the Scandinavian (2...Nf6 line) -- which I can highly recommend for its thoroughness, originality, and practicality. Alas, in Lowinger's poor effort there are no theory sections. The format is the lazy man's one of throwing in a bunch of annotated games, with the inevitable result that the coverage is incomplete, and a lot of space wasted. Still I applaud the author for his interest and passion for offbeat stuff, but can't in good faith recommend this book for active tournament players since the coverage of recommended lines is so cursory.

Interesting & effective lines that should challenge "booked-up" opponents....Annotated games, ranging from the author's to world class players, illustrate important themes for the non-master. I have already notched several wins thanks to this book. Lowinger's explanations are thorough & engaging, especially concerning transition to the middle game. The author obviously has a considerable amount of teaching experience.

This book will open your eyes to do just as the title suggests! You will have a deeper, sweeter relationship with Jesus after reading this book! Wonderful and have shared it with someone who has been walking with The Lord many years and it had the same affect on them!

Worst Book in the Series

I was a huge fan of James Patterson's Women's Murder Club books. Until this one. His main character, Lindsay Boxer, steps way out of character. The plot is boring, and the supporting characters turn to mere stick figures. I doubt that I'll read No. 17. Beware of the twists because they're not well done.

I have LOVED all of the WMC books.....until now. Very disappointing. There was no closure to the book. It ended abruptly. The story line was very thin without any real excitement. I'm so sad that I have waited a year for this book, just to be completely devastated.

there's good wine, great food

Summary:
            Lindsay and Joe are having dinner on the pier, and she is seriously considering reconciliation. Can they have a relationship together now? Still, there's good wine, great food, and.... a huge explosion across the way. When they run over to assess the damage, Lindsay notices one man acting strangely. Connor Grant isn't running away. In fact, he seems happy. When she goes to talk to him, Grant takes credit for the bomb and Lindsay has him taken into custody.  Meanwhile, Joe goes into the museum to see if he can help anyone. A second explosion hits, and he is badly wounded.
      The next morning, Grant is in interrogation denying ever having admitted to anything. As the case goes to trial, he decides to defend himself and Lindsay finds that it is her- her word, and her integrity- that is on trial. In order to protect her job and put Grant away Lindsay must get all her friends together and they have to figure out the mystery of what really happened and who Grant really is before it's too late.
My thoughts:
     For me, this was a very fast paced but emotionally taxing book. Over the years I have come to love these characters, and the pain Lindsay is in- both on a job level and in her romantic life- hurts. These are amazing, multifaceted characters that you cannot help but root for; and each one has their own issue in this book as well as trying to help Lindsay through hers.
         Grant is an interesting villain. Smart, savvy chameleon that he is, it was interesting to see what he would come up with. The premise was intriguing and the story line had a nice, fast flow. It tied in well with 15th Affair, James Patterson, but seemed to ignore the bookshot in between these two. I have to admit, I was a bit put off by that. I had been waiting to see how they would address the added content in the paper copy of The Trial, James Patterson and Maxine Paetro.
       That said, I still loved the book and thought it was a great addition to the series. Five stars!
      On the adult content scale, there was violence, language and some sexual content. I give it a five.
