A Quick and Easy Way to Learn the New Features

The biggest changes in Office 2007 seem to be the new GUI (Graphical User Interface) which Microsoft calls the Ribbon. This is a complete change from the earlier GUI which we have all come to know and love. The Ribbon organizes the commands into what Microsoft calls contextual tabs. Each tab has a logical grouping of commands. This is not unlike the way you used to click on the Edit or View command and then got a list of commands, but in 2007 there are far more commands that you can reach without having to go to subsidiary menus.

The Ribbon is, of course, the result of many hours of definition, testing before audiences and of course a lot of programming effort. There's the old saying that 'user friendly is programmer difficult.' The ribbon is a common interface that is used in all of the Office applications, so learning about it is mandatory for using Office 2007.

Of course there are an awful lot of new features added to each of the applications. It's easier to get a 'Live Preview' of what you are doing in word. It's easier to do Pivot Tables in Excel, and so on. These applications have been around so long that they are not getting big massive upgrades. I frankly don't know what more they could add.

Of course this is a 'For Dummies' book. This means that the writing is good, the proof reading catches all the mispellings, and there's even a bit of humor.

Good Introduction To Office 2007

"Microsoft Office 2007 For Dummies" is a good introduction for anyone wanting a basic knowledge of the Office 2007 Suites. The book is also appropriate for readers wanting to expand their Office 2007 knowledge.

The books around 50-70 pages on Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and Access. The information is to the point and the text is easily readable.

Some folks may take issue with the rather bland black and white illustrations. However, that may be one reason why the book is reasonably priced compared to other similar titles.

A good reference. Read, enjoy, and learn!

Wendell Odom, CCIE No. 1624 (Emeritus), has been in the networking industry since 1981. He has worked as a network engineer, consultant, systems engineer, instructor, and course developer; he currently works writing and creating certification study tools. This book is his 27th edition of some product for Pearson, and he is the author of all editions of the CCNA R&S and CCENT Cert Guides from Cisco Press. Save money and purchase the bundle from Cisco Press

Not much different from the regular edition book. Glossier pages, the Do I Know This Already questions are at the end of the chapter, a Chapter Summary (in addition to chapter review section), longer part review section, and premium edition Pearson test software. Cisco Press is offering the CCNA Academic Edition (which is this book and the book for 200-125) for about the same price. So save your money and just purchase the two book bundle from Cisco Press.

The stage is in darkness. Harsh music is heard as dim blue lights come up. One after another, seven women run onto the stage from each of the exits. They all freeze in postures of distress. The follow spot picks up the lady in brown. She comes to life and looks around at the other ladies. All of the others are still. She walks over to the lady in red and calls to her. The lady in red makes no response.

without rhythm/no tune

distraught laughter fallin

over a black girl's shoulder

it's funny/it's hysterical

the melody-less-ness of her dance

lyrics/no voices

& interrupted solos

unseen performances

are we ghouls?

children of horror?

the joke?

The lady in yellow sings along with the Dells for a moment. The lady in orange and the lady in blue jump up and parody the lady in yellow and the Dells. The lady in yellow stares at them. They sit down.

i caught this attitude

& wd not be bothered

& bein a mute cute colored puerto rican

til saturday afternoon when the disc-jockey say

& alla my niggah temper came outta control

& i wdnt dance wit nobody

I've never read anything like this book. It's a poem, it's a play, it is view of how black women see themselves and what their lives are like. It was interesting and a good read. I think it will be a book I will want to read again because it was too dense for me to get much out of it on the first reading.

Which is why I bought this copy. The book I read originally belonged to the local library.

Where do I begin?! This is an amazing screenplay/book. Read in one sitting but I reference it all the time. Everyone should submerge themselves in this work of art.
